"Mom Loves to See
You Eat Heartily"
Building a dialogue between "homemaker" and "self." An interactive installation exploring the dual roles of contemporary Chinese women. Through technology, everyday kitchen objects silently transform between "cooking tools" and "cosmetics" — revealing a modern parable of identity.
01 · The Challenge — Identity Dilemma
The fracture of dual roles: Modern Chinese women face a profound identity contradiction — society's traditional expectation of being a "devoted wife and good mother" on one side, and personal aspiration for career achievement and self-actualization on the other.
How to translate this abstract social-psychological conflict into a tangible, concrete interactive experience within an artistic context?

02 · The Concept — From Kitchen to Vanity Table
Metamorphosis
Kitchen objects — pots, pans, dishes — transform into a vanity table. Using infrared sensor technology, when a viewer approaches, seemingly ordinary egg tart molds and dinner plates automatically flip and open, revealing mirrors and powder puffs hidden inside. This instant of transformation is a metaphor for women's identity oscillation between domestic laborer and aesthetic individual.

03 · Installation Anatomy

Technology & Emotion Fusion System
Combining programming, mechanical structure, and traditional craft — building a narrative system with warmth.
Material Layer: Readymade Objects
Real kitchen utensils (egg tart molds, stainless plates) — preserving the texture and memory of daily life.
Technology Layer: Invisible Interaction
Infrared sensors monitor viewer distance, driving servo motors to trigger silent, seamless dynamic changes.
Narrative Layer: Role Mirror
Establishing a mirror relationship between "eating heartily (for the child)" and "refined makeup (for the self)."
04 · Core Capabilities
Symbolic Translation
Strong visual contrast between "egg tart mold" and "powder compact," "dinner plate" and "mirror surface" — charged with narrative tension.

Interactive Narrative
The viewer's physical movement triggers the transformation — shifting them from observer to the very catalyst and participant of the story.

Craft Fusion
Hands-on metal welding. Collaboration with rural craftspeople. Preserving the warmth and trace of handwork within technological rationalism.

Social Insight
Captures and vividly presents the universal identity dilemma of contemporary women — resonating and prompting reflection at a societal level.

05 · Recognition
Rooted in genuine personal experience, this work established a creative paradigm of "using interactive technology as the brush, social care as the ink." This methodology — focusing on how technology can be more humane — set a foundational value orientation for all subsequent design work.
