Milan Expo
Coffee Cluster Pavilion
Building an experience ecosystem from "temporary exhibition" to "lasting value." Merging architectural narrative with service touchpoints — transforming the coffee cluster pavilion into a perceptible cultural journey and commercial closed-loop system.
01 · The Challenge
Unity vs. individuality: Multiple economically developing coffee-producing countries needed unified representation while preserving their distinct cultural identities.
Traditional expo pavilion experiences remain at the visual surface, lacking deep engagement. And fleeting exhibitions rarely generate lasting value for the source regions. How to transform a casual visit into deep coffee culture knowledge — and ongoing economic support — was the core challenge.

02 · The Solution — Architecture as Interface, Service as Content
An Immersive Coffee Experience World
A series of "portal doorways" serve as the core architectural vocabulary and narrative nodes, guiding visitors through a transparent, variable spatial system. The coffee's diverse character is fully activated through a carefully designed five-sense experience.

03 · Value Flywheel — Full-Cycle Experience Ecosystem

Before: Build Anticipation
Designed an online "Coffee Passport" system. Visitors learn about participating countries before arriving and generate personalized routes.
During: Five-Sense Narrative
Portal doorways plan the sensory experience journey — visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and gustatory immersion.
After: Value Conversion
Completing the digital stamp collection unlocks an online store. Visitors directly repurchase favorite coffee beans — converting exhibition traffic into direct economic support for origin regions.
04 · Narrative Doors
The Origin Door
Scent / Touch / Sound. Feel the soil, touch the coffee cherry, hear the natural soundscape from the origin.

Labor & Processing Door
Visual / Emotional. Farmer portrait walls and oral audio — giving the production process a human warmth that connects people.

Flavor & Social Door
Taste / Social. Global tasting stations and open workshops create direct taste comparisons and cultural exchange.

Digital Passport
Interaction / Commercial Loop. Online passport and store system — connecting brand exposure directly to sales conversion.

05 · Impact
First-of-its-kind weaving of cultural experience, educational value, and commercial conversion into a self-sustaining cycle. Successfully bridged macro architectural language with micro service touchpoints — proving service design can elevate a one-time major event into a platform that continuously creates value.
💡 Empowering small-region producers with a global stage.
🔄 Value loop: connecting cultural display to commercial conversion.
